Referred to as the “Old Blood-and-Guts” by his men, this American general commanded the US Seventh Army in the Mediterranean theater during World War 2. George Smith Patton Jr. was known for his strict leadership, toughness, self-sacrifice, and pride. Unlike the other known personalities, Patton came from a wealthy California family and enjoyed a comfortable life in his childhood. Some historians speculated that the young Patton had undiagnosed dyslexia since he had difficulties in reading and spelling during his early years. Though, he never let his reading difficulty to stop him from learning, by the age of 11 he started to have formal education and became a voracious reader. At his young age, he had shown interest in military subjects, especially books about wars. Patton pursued his interest in military subjects and attended Virginia Military Institute.
